Paxtyn's Journey at Uplift Michigan Online School

"I had been to nine different schools before Uplift, and none of them made me feel accepted," Paxtyn recalls. "Uplift was the first school where I could actually make friends, open up, and be myself."

"It sounds nerve-wracking at first, but making small comments in class sessions helped me find people who thought the same way I did," he explains. "Eventually, it helped me build friendships that are still a part of my life today."

"Ms. Gould wouldn’t let me give up," Paxtyn remembers. "She set up one-on-one meetings, created personalized plans, and kept pushing me forward when I felt like quitting."
Paxtyn caught up on ten classes in a single semester — an accomplishment he once thought impossible.

"Before Uplift, I barely passed my classes," he shares. "After Uplift, I’m thriving in college, pursuing a career in pastry arts, and I finally believe in my future."

"In a traditional classroom, I got overwhelmed by all the noise and distractions," Paxtyn explains. "At Uplift, I could work in my own space, at my own pace, and it made all the difference."

Even after graduation, the sense of community Paxtyn found at Uplift continues to play an important role in his life.
"Even after graduation, you don't leave the Uplift community," Paxtyn says. "I'm still in touch with some of my friends and teachers, and I know if I ever needed anything, I could reach back out."
Beyond friendships, Uplift helped Paxtyn discover confidence in his abilities and a deep belief in his future.
"I genuinely believe that Uplift is the only reason I actually continued going to college," he reflects. "They changed the way I saw school, success, and what I'm capable of."
